Aftermarket Sales Manager
Cochran are global leaders in the manufacture and support of Industrial Steam and Hot Water Boilers. Our Aftermarket team supports these products throughout their life by providing upgrades, modifications, and repairs. During the lifetime of a boiler, there will be changes to legislation, advances in technology and changes to operational requirements, all of which are supported by our Aftermarket team. We are currently looking for an Aftermarket Sales Manager to assist with this aspect of the business and the boiler hire fleet. This position is Full Time, Field Based, and reports to the Senior Project and Commercial Manager.
What is the role?
As part of our busy Aftermarket team, you will be responsible for the sale of mechanical services including upgrades and replacement of ancillary products such as economisers, blowdown vessels, deaerators, and piping systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for:- Interpretation of customer enquiries and production of engineered solutions, and commercial quotations | Provision of quotations for hire boilers | The role will require liaison with existing customers, following up on quotations, and contacting potential new customers for sales opportunities throughout the UK | Liaising with suppliers and sub-contractors as required to meet customer needs | Attending meetings and making site visits as required | Assisting with budgets and forecasting for the department | Ensuring that appropriate quality systems are adhered to.
What you will bring?
An Engineering related Apprenticeship/HNC/HND or demonstrable experience in a similar role | Knowledge of boilers and heat distribution systems | Able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team | Good verbal and written communication skills | Good organisational and time management skills | Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products | A valid driving licence | It would be desirable if you had knowledge of Cochran products
Service Manager
Cochran Services is looking for a Service Manager. Applicants should have a good knowledge of engineering processes and products. Previous managerial experience would be a distinct advantage. You will be highly motivated, flexible, display excellent people skills, computer literate and able to work effectively on your own initiative. There will be a mixture of field-based work and office work which can be done from home, so it does not need to be based in Newbie. You will be required to travel on Company Business both in the UK and sometimes Overseas. This position will report to the Product and Service Delivery Manager. Usual staff hours are forty hours per week, Monday to Friday, you may be required to work additional hours necessary for the efficient performance of your duties. A company vehicle will be provided.

Main Tasks?
Review departmental performance and implement corrective measures | Work with staff to ensure quality of service and customer satisfaction | Identify opportunities to improve operations, methods and procedures | Assist in the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures for assigned areas to ensure quality of service | Ensure staff adhere to safe work practices and company procedures | Oversee the recruitment of new staff | Ensure pricing policies and quality systems are adhered to and personnel are operating within their given parameters | Monthly on-call telephone rota | Deal with any non-conformance issues e.g. expenses submission, health and safety issues etc., working in tandem with the Customer Services Manager for any Service Engineer administration issues | Manage performance and discipline for direct reports | Conduct PDRs for direct reports
Prepare, maintain and achieve overhead budgets | Ensure customer complaints are concluded effectively | Provide weekly & monthly reports to the Product and Service Delivery Manager and other dependent departments where necessary.
What you will bring?
Preferably the candidate should have previous experience in the running of a field-based business | Ideally possess experience within the Boiler or Combustion Industry | Educated to at least HND/Degree level in a relevant electrical or engineering discipline | Computer literacy | Required to respond to problems out-with normal working hours | Possess a full clean driving licence
Purchasing Administrator
Cochran Ltd are seeking a Purchasing Administrator to work within the Purchasing Department to assist the Purchasing Manager in the sourcing, procurement, receipt and control of materials and equipment. To provide administrative support across the company to meet the business needs. This position is full-time, based in Newbie and reports to the Purchasing Manager.
What is the role?
Sourcing and ordering of materials and equipment | Progressing Purchase Orders |Booking in materials received and recording test certifications | Assist with Supplier Records | Assist with queries from internal departments and external suppliers |Data inputting | Assist with the annual stock take, twice yearly | General office work including typing and filing | Any other reasonable request to suit business needs
What you will bring?

Electrician
Cochran Ltd are seeking an Electrician to work within the Factory. This will involve the wiring of industrial steam & hot water boilers, burners, gas trains, other associated components/products and combustion control systems, to high quality standards and with tight time constraints. This position is full-time, based in Newbie and reports to the Works Foreman.
What is the role?
Wiring of industrial steam & hot water boilers. | Wiring of burners & combustion control systems | Simulating testing and fault finding on the above elements | Conduct general electrical maintenance and repair on manufacturing machinery and equipment as required
What you will bring?
Completion of Recognised Craft Apprenticeship | ONC/HNC qualification in a relevant electrical engineering discipline | 18th Edition Electrical Installation Qualification | Knowledge of PLC type control systems would be an advantage | Previous experience in boiler and combustion control systems | Ability to work on own initiative | Must be conversant with schematic wiring drawings generated from AutoCAD |
Mechanical Engineer / CAD Technician
Key Objectives: Mechanical Design Engineers are responsible for all stages of a product/specifications, from research and development to design and fabrication/manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.
Main Tasks/Responsibilities: Working in conjunction with production, providing timely calculations/designs/drawings | Project manage design and potential construction opportunities | Assisting in estimation of tenders | Looking for and implementing continuous improvement of existing products | Developing and implementing procedures relating to in-house workflows, installation, testing and end user operational manuals for equipment, including maintenance schedules and spare parts lists | Assisting in the design of quality control documentation/manuals to suit each product | Liaising with suppliers, production, sales, industry experts, project managers, site engineers to establish correct application for each product | Researching, reviewing, checking, approving and ensuring that all products are and remain code compliant to the latest standard | Owning and drive new product designs from start to finish ensuring our products are globally compliant | Provided detailed drawings with SolidWorks/ AutoCAD | Providing technical support and guidance to workshop fabrication teams | Exploring opportunities to minimize cost associated with compliance needs | Driving a PRO-CUSTOMER culture in order to provide proactive and timely service to internal and external customers | Writing reports and documentation | Providing technical advice and support to Senior Design Engineers | Reviewing, analysing and interpreting customer/ supplier data and specifications.

Coded Welder
Key Objectives: to produce consistent level of high quality welded joints on various products, while utilising a diverse range of welding processes & techniques. These are subjected to strenuous inspection with U/T, X-Ray & MPI techniques.
Main Tasks/Responsibilities: Welding of shell boilers & pressures vessels constructed to BS2790 and EN12953, using MMA, SAW & FCAW welding processes | Welding of boiler casings, support structures and associated parts using MIG process | Welding of economisers and pipework with TIG welding process
Desirable Skills and Qualities: Time served Coded Welder essential | Completion of Recognised Craft Apprenticeship | ONC Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline | Good overall diversity in various welding processes | Ability to work on own initiative | Conversant with fabrication drawings generated from AutoCAD | Reasonable general fitness level required to undertake many of the processes
Welder
Key Objectives: to produce consistent level of high quality welded joints on various products, while utilising a diverse range of welding processes & techniques. These are subjected to strenuous inspection with U/T, X-Ray & MPI techniques.
Main Tasks/Responsibilities: Primarily MIG welding of general fabrication and fabricated assemblies | Potential to train on other coded welding processes using MMA, SAW & FCAW
Desirable Skills and Qualities: Current or previous experience in MIG welding of general fabrications | Completion of Recognised Craft Apprenticeship | Ability to work on own initiative | Conversant with fabrication drawings from AutoCAD
