We have already put measures in place to be able to continue servicing our customers and presently we do not envisage any interruption to our manufacturing and service support. We have robust plans in place to maintain good stock and spare part levels and are confident in our ability to provide our usual high level of service.

Enhanced Product Ranges

Date: 19/11/2019

Cochran has developed a range of boilers that is targeting at least 80mg/Nm3 (without Flue Gas Recirculation). These units have the added benefit of increased efficiency to further enhance environmental performance. Of particular significance are the enhanced ranges to comply with the recently introduced European emissions legislation, The Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD). MCPD sets new tighter emissions limits for boiler plant between 1 and 20MW heat input. The limits for new plant are dependent upon the fuel(s) being burnt but the most common one to focus upon is the NOx level on gas firing which has been set at 100mg/Nm3. For the steam range the ST28, based on the renowned Wee Chieftain, covers outputs from 1000 to 6000 kg/h and the ST37, based on the established Thermax design, covers outputs from 7000 to 24000 kg/h. For reverse flame boilers we have developed the ST65 range. For hot water units we have developed the HW29 range for outputs from 450 – 4100 kW and the HW34 for outputs from 5000 – 10000 kW

Cochran ST36 Assists a Bottling Plant Expansion

Date: 04/06/2019

Prior to Christmas one of our Engineers, John Flaherty traveled to Mauritius to commission an ST36 steam boiler 16,000 kg/hr with Saacke heavy oil burner. PhoenixBev made their selection based on the long term reliability of their other Cochran boiler as well as the aftersales support available. PhoenixBev offer a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic products, including beers, wines and spirits, soft drinks, table water and other beverages. They produce and sell international brands and are the authorised bottler of the products of The Coca-Cola Company in Mauritius, namely Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, Dasani and Crystal table water. Their thirst to move forward has been powered by a team of over 1,200 employees operating over three production plants in Mauritius.

Cochran Boilers crop up everywhere…

Date: 06/02/2019

Last year we were contacted by a wreck diver from the Netherlands who dived on an unknown wreck in the North Sea and found a Data Plate that came off one of our boilers! We are currently trying to see if we can find the boiler records to help identify the wreck in the North Sea.

Appointment of a new Cochran Training Manager

Date: 05/02/2019

At the end of last year Cochran bade farewell to one of our stalwarts, Bill Higgins. Bill had been with Cochran for over 30 years, initially as a key member of our service team, but in more recent years as our Training Manager. In this role Bill flourished and became known across the length and breadth of the UK, carrying out training from Shetland to Cornwall and everywhere inbetween, not to mention many overseas excursions. During his 7 years as Training Manager Bill grew Cochran’s training revenue 4 fold and trained literally 1000’s of managers, technicians and operators on the safe and efficient operation of boiler plant. He’ll be missed by customers and colleagues but it is time for Bill to enjoy a long and happy retirement.
