Technical Risk Assessment

The demands of legislation, industry guidance and the technology of industrial steam and hot water generation are constantly evolving and Cochran work with customers to ensure that your boiler always meets the latest requirements. Cochran undertake a review of your boilerhouse system which will identify valuable opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, reliability and ultimately productivity of your boiler plant.

Cochran’s extensive expertise and experience in meeting legislation and industry approved codes of practice, enables the Company to provide authoritative support and guidance to customers as part of its competitively priced ‘Boilerhouse Technical Risk Assessment’ service.

The Cochran approach is to provide mentoring and support, using in depth knowledge to provide site-specific advice, coaching customers through the process, maximising the ‘buy-in’ and understanding of boiler operators.

In developing the plan, a logical approach is taken to assess all the key components of the boilerhouse system. Combining the latest legislative requirements and industry guidance with practical experience, Cochran will identify potential risks and areas of improvement appropriate to each customer.

The final Boilerhouse Technical Risk Assessment covers six key areas:-

Safety: What areas are of concern? How could site safety be improved?

Legislation & Best Practice: Is the plant compliant with the latest legal requirements?  What advances in boilerhouse best practice are applicable to the site?

Training & Operation: Significant improvements in operational safety, the working life of the plant and its fuel efficiency can often be achieved through operator and management training.

Automation & Controls: Are the controls in the boilerhouse delivering the best results?  Can the installation of the latest controls or use of automation improve efficiency and even reduce labour costs?

Efficiency: How can plant efficiency be improved? Is the potential solution cost effective?

Reliability & Resilience: What plans are in place to extend the operational life of the plant, reduce incidence of equipment failure and mitigate the impact of plant breakdowns?

Solution Delivery

Once Cochran has completed and delivered its assessment, the Company has the expertise, equipment and personnel to deliver a bespoke solution that will effectively match the recommendations of the assessment.
