Service Engineer (Grade 3)

Working Pattern: Full time, home-based

We're looking for an experienced field based service engineer to provide on-site customer support. You will need to have a full UK drivers license, be Gas Safe registered and have a CCNSG Safety Passport as well as experience of industrial boiler house equipment.

Role:
Field based providing on-site customer support throughout the UK and Overseas. Involving some overnight stays away from home as required to meet customer requirements in the repair, servicing and maintenance of steam, hot water boilers and associated burners and control systems.

Key Objective:
To always represent the company in a professional and courteous manner. To support the company and their clients in the provision of on-site services, promoting the company and its various services at all times in a positive, dedicated and professional manner. To respond and participate fully in support of the companies 24hr emergency call out service.

Responsibilities - Compliance:
• Lead by example to ensure 100% compliant – 100% of the time
• Lead by example to ensure colleagues and Trainee/Apprentice Service Engineers understand and comply with both company and site-specific Health & Safety procedures and safe working procedures.
• Submit monthly mileage and expense reports in line with company procedures
• Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle and to report any damage to the vehicle how so ever caused in line with company procedures
• Always wear the provided company uniform when on company related business. Ensure it is maintained and kept in a clean and tidy state, request replacement uniform where damage has been sustained to any item of uniform how so ever this was caused through the Service Desk.
• To respond and attend emergency call out requests out of hours as and when requested or required.
• To develop understanding, knowledge and skills in the maintenance and set up across all types of control equipment and valves used in relation to steam and hot water boilers and ancillary equipment.

Responsibilities – Customer Focus:
• Coordinate activities when working with apprentices and/or less knowledgeable or skilled engineers to meet customer expectations and utilisation.
• Undertake preparation and reinstatement of boilers for Annual Insurance Inspection/examination in line with company, customer or Third-party inspectorate requirements.
• Undertake preparation and reinstatement of boilers for NDE Insurance including minor refractory repairs, stud repairs and replacement.
• Inspection/examination in line with company, customer or Third-party inspectorate requirements.
• Hydro Testing of boilers and economisers
• Ensure that personal skills and abilities are constantly improved/developed and updated to meet changing customer expectations.
• To be flexible and adaptable in the approach to the needs of the job role.
• To always undertake the required task in an efficient and profitable way.
• To always be polite and courteous to both customers and colleagues.
• To support the company and its customers in the provision of 24hr breakdown response.

• Work always in a safe and efficient manner ensuring that all company and site-specific health and safety rules or guidelines are adhered to as well as local government rules.
• Adhere to and follow company H&S requirements and guidelines both within the UK and Overseas always ensuring working safe.
• Identify opportunities for further work and promote all the relevant services and products that the company can offer.
• Provide clear and concise reports relating to every service visit or activity undertaken providing information in a clear and concise report to the client noting any remedial/upgrade work to be undertaken.
• Submit Service reports daily to the service desk to enable prompt reporting and invoicing.
• Always undertake the required task in an efficient and profitable way.

• Share skills and knowledge with colleagues to improve overall effectiveness of individuals and the department.
• Seek appropriate advice from the engineering department, OEM or Senior Technical Support Engineer any time there is doubt concerning the correctness of an application
• Identify personal training requirements and advise either your line manager or HO of these requirements.

Additional Information
The role requires an individual to be competent and skilful with the following: -
• Experience of industrial boiler house equipment
• Shell Boilers – steam and hot water
• Gas Safe or IGAS qualification
• Clean UK driving license
