Cochran are recruiting an Apprentice Welder who in time, with in house training, wil be expected to achieve and produce a consistent level of high-quality welded joints on various products, while utilising a diverse range of welding processes & techniques. These are subjected to strenuous inspection with U/T, X-Ray & MPI techniques.
What is the role?
- Welding of shell boilers & pressure vessels constructed by BS2790, EN12953 and ASME VIII Division 1, using MMA, SAW & FCAW welding processes.
- Welding of boiler casings, support structures and associated parts using MIG process.
- Welding of economisers and pipework with TIG welding process.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment in line with company and legal standards.
- Record maintenance and repair activities accurately, maintaining proper documentation.
- Attend and actively participate in apprenticeship training.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Engage with team members, supervisors, and mentors to gain practical experience and improve technical skills.
- Carry out any other duties within the scope of the apprentice role as requested by supervisors.
What you will bring?
- A minimum of 5 National 4 passes including English, and Maths.
- Good overall level of physical diversity.
- Willing to work at height and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Reasonable general fitness level required to undertake many of the processes.
Further Information...
- Standard working hours Monday to Thursday 8 am to 4.30pm with Fridays 8 am to 1pm with breaks at 9.30 am, and 12-12:30 pm.
- Salary will be as per wage agreement or national minimum wage depending on age and year you join. It it hoped the apprentice will complete a 4-year apprenticeship, however, it is possible to join from year two elsewhere.
